To Here From 'Eternity'
The end of 2010 is fast approaching. Here’s some quick updates on what the next year holds for SSTC: You can check out some photos from last month’s production of Eternity in the Hearts of Men at the bottom of this post. The show was very well received, if not quite as well attended. So we’re looking for another venue in Massachusetts to remount the show and get more people to...

Something Stirring
We’re very pleased to announce that Shadow Show has an event coming up next month. SSTC is producing Eternity in the Hearts of Men, a new piece about life and death with a sci-fi twist. Unfortunately for all our Texas fans, this one’s happening in Burlington, Massachusetts. Not to worry, San Antonio. The move isn’t permanent. We just know how to take an opportunity when it...

A Successful Opening!
The Children’s Hour opened last night and I couldn’t be more pleased. The show is great, and the actors got to play to an almost-sold-out house. The audience seemed to really be into it - a couple shocking moments elicited gasps from the crowd! A special thanks goes out to Linda Davila for donating/organizing the opening night food and wine reception. It made the night really special...

Night of Motion Shots
Hey all, We’re getting into crunch time for the show, but we’re in a really great place for opening. There are a lot of little details we have to nail down to make everything as smooth and fluid as possible but we will definitely get there. Our first dress rehearsal was tonight and went beautifully, aside from one of our actresses getting a freak nosebleed and bleeding on a costume....

Costumes, Costumes, Costumes
Hello! Working very hard on THE CHILDREN’S HOUR. In just two days, we have our first dress rehearsal, and though we’ve made so much progress so far, there’s still quite a lot to do! A sketch for Mrs. Mortar’s first Act I costume. This costume is coming along great! You can see my mother at the machine in the background. I started my process in mid July, borrowing a lot...

A Tale of Two Couches
We thought we were pretty lucky when we were able to snag a couch and chair set from the home of our producer’s late great aunt. That is, until we brought them to the theater and started rehearsing with them… Left to right: Gazelle Garcia, Krystal Kohler, and Symphonie Rendon. As you can see, the furniture comes with vivid, shining gold upholstery. What you can’t see in...

Let's Get Physical
Rehearsals for Lillian Hellman’s The Children’s Hour are in full swing and I can assure you that the actors are hard at work. They’ve been asked to crawl, climb, leap, tackle, and shove their way through this show, and every one of them has stepped up to the plate like a champ. More than one performer has walked away at the end of the night with a bruise or two, but they all come...
